Today, we’re excited to share our journey and transformation from Plant- Based DFW to Love In Balance. Our mission is rooted in a passion for health and wellness, and we want to tell you the story of how we arrived at this rebranding, what it means for you, and why our commitment to your well-being is stronger than ever.

A Personal Journey
I’m Maya Acosta, and my journey to founding Love In Balance has been profound, guided by personal health and wellness experiences. I’ve always been interested in health, but I truly understood its potential when I discovered the transformative power of nutrition. Before I embarked on this plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine path, I faced health challenges. Weight issues, hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, cystic acne, restless leg syndrome, and panic attacks were all part of my journey.

The Turning Point
In 2013, everything changed when I stumbled upon a book that would alter the course of my life forever: “The Starch Solution” by Dr. John McDougall. Its pages held the key to the incredible potential of whole, plant-based foods. It was the spark that ignited my journey toward better health.

The turning point came soon after when my husband, Dr. Rizwan Bukhari, and I listened to Rip Esselstyn speak at our local Whole Foods. His message resonated with us, reaffirming our belief in the power of plant- based nutrition. That was the moment when we decided to make a complete change in our lifestyles. By 2016, we were fully committed to this transformative journey.

Founding Love In Balance
As our lives underwent incredible transformations after fully embracing a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle in 2016, we felt compelled to share this life-changing information with Dr. Bukhari’s patients. We witnessed how a shift towards a plant-based diet could rapidly improve cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and hypertension and even reverse chronic diseases over time. This revelation ignited our passion and led us to co-found Love In Balance.

Our personal experiences and the knowledge we acquired sparked a deep desire within us. We were determined to ensure that others could access this life-altering information and embark on their journeys toward better health and balance. This commitment became the foundation of Love In Balance. We are here to inspire and empower individuals to make informed choices about nutrition, exercise, and stress management, ultimately guiding them toward a happier and healthier life.

A New Name and a Bright Future
We’re thrilled to introduce our new name, Love In Balance, which reflects our core values and the pillars of Lifestyle Medicine that guide us. Our tagline, “Living Optimally through Vitality and Empowerment,” encapsulates our mission to empower individuals to prevent chronic disease and improve their health through whole-food, plant-based nutrition and healthier lifestyle choices.

The four pillars that define our approach are:

1 – Lively Nutrition: We emphasize the transformative power of plant- based nutrition to nourish and revitalize your body.

2 – Optimal Relationships: Nurturing meaningful connections with others is essential for emotional well-being.

3 – Vital Stress Management: Learn practical techniques to manage stress and maintain emotional balance.

4 – Essential Sleep & Exercise: Prioritize rest and physical activity to support overall well-being.

Our rebranding signifies a new chapter in our journey. We are more committed than ever to providing educational opportunities, lectures, educational podcast content, collaborations with health experts, and our regular Walk With A Doc.

Our journey has shown us the incredible potential of plant-based food and Lifestyle Medicine, and it’s a journey we’re deeply passionate about sharing with the world. We invite you to join us in creating a healthier, happier future together.
