Walk with a Doc: Inspiring Communities through Movement and Conversation

With an aim to make health and happiness accessible to everyone, Walk with a Doc offers free doctor-led walking groups in communities around the world. These ongoing events allow participants to safely walk, learn about current health topics, and meet new people. Meet Dr. Riz

Rizwan H. Bukhari, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a highly skilled vascular surgeon who is board-certified and specializes in treating a range of vascular issues. These include aneurysms, carotid artery stenosis, lower extremity arterial blockages, gangrene, dialysis access grafts, and varicose veins. He founded North Texas Vascular Center, offering diagnostic services and minimally invasive outpatient procedures to prevent amputation and limb salvage.

 

About Maya

Maya Acosta is a health and wellness educator, podcaster, and content creator from Dallas, Texas. She advocates for whole-food, plant-based living and co-leads the Plant Based DFW Pod, where she educates the public on the benefits of healthy living through lectures, potlucks, and walks with the doc. Maya’s interest in health outreach was sparked by witnessing the effects of poor lifestyle choices among her husband’s patients, which led her to promote nutrition education and lifestyle medicine.
